I love waxed canvas, bags, pouches and other item made with waxed canvas. There is something endearing about it. I also love waxing canvas. I have extra waxed canvas on hand and decided to sell some of my overflow.
To wax canvas, I use a 3:1 mix with 3 parts paraffin and 1 part bee’s wax on 100% cotton duck cloth that was purchased from Joann’s Fabrics.
This waxed canvas is pliable yet stiff. Due to the nature of hand waxed canvas, you might find small bits of wax and variations in color. Care was taken to distribute the wax as evenly as possible however, there might be areas where the wax is slightly thicker than others.
Hand waxed canvas has unique characteristics. It scratches, and wrinkles which leaves light colored creases that can be smoothed with heat like setting in the sun or with a hair dryer if desired.
Sewing with waxed canvas, you will notice that it becomes more pliable as you work with it. Best needle size will depend on the machine you use and how thick your seams are. I use a Bernina 770 and use an 80/12 for the majority of my sewing and an 90/14 jean needle on thick seams. My sewing machine guy recommended using a toothbrush to clean the feed dogs after sewing with waxed canvas.

Dark Green; 60” WOF x62” long
This fabric is very dark with a green tint
Lime Green 60” WOF x 57+
There is a little extra fabric in this yardage. This fabric is definitely lime green. I hand dyed this fabric, so this color is not available anywhere else. In addition, I probably cannot replicate the color.
Royal Blue 2 yards 60” WOF
A nice medium blue
Dark Grey 60” WOF x 76”
Nice dark grey/ light black
Grey/ Tan 2 yards 60” WOF
This is an interesting color, it is sort of grey with a tan or brown hue. The pictures did not capture the brown hues in this piece.
Pink 40” x 60” WOF
This fabric is Pink and slightly opaque. There are 2 short black streaks in the weave of the fabric. I included pictures with a dime for comparison.
Orange 38” x 72”
This is an odd shape because I cut a tote bag out of part of it. This fabric is bright orange and slightly opaque.
Blue/ Grey 66” x 60” WOF
This is my favorite-colored waxed canvas. The canvas looks bluer in person than in the photos.
